Local SEO
Getting found by people who are already nearby
Twenty services, from a first-time Google Business Profile setup to reinstating a suspended one. The map pack is decided by different signals than the blue links, and it is often the faster win.
The Nexclick handles local SEO for UK businesses that need to appear in the Google map pack: profile optimisation, citation cleanup, review generation and local content. Work starts from £600 a month. Movement usually shows within six to twelve weeks for a profile without penalties or verification problems.
What this covers
The honest version
The three results in the map pack take the majority of local clicks, and they are decided by a different set of signals than the organic listings underneath. Proximity you cannot change. Prominence and relevance you can, and that is where the work sits.
In practice most local problems are not exotic. A profile in the wrong primary category. Services listed as bare category labels rather than described. An old address still live on directories from a move three years ago. Twelve reviews when the business above you has ninety. None of it is complicated; it is just nobody's job, so it does not get done.
The honest framing is that local SEO is usually cheaper and faster than national SEO, and for a business serving one town it is almost always the better first investment. The Nexclick will tell you if your money is better spent here than on the wider organic work.

Who this is for
Sound familiar?
- You appear in the map pack for your brand name but not for the service people actually search.
- A competitor with fewer reviews and a worse website sits consistently above you.
- Your Google Business Profile was set up years ago by somebody who has since left.
- You have several branches and they are competing with each other rather than each owning their area.
- Your profile has been suspended and Google’s appeal form has not helped.
Who it is not for
When to spend elsewhere
- You sell nationally with no physical presence and no service area — national SEO is the right route.
- You are outside the areas you want to rank in. Proximity is a real constraint and no amount of work removes it.
The Nexclick would rather lose the enquiry than take on work that will not produce anything. Saying so on the website costs less than saying it in month four.
Deliverables
What you actually get
Things that appear on an invoice, not qualities.
- Profile audit against your actual competitors
- Not against a generic checklist. We look at the three businesses currently in the pack for your target searches and identify precisely what they have that you do not.
- Category and service corrections
- Primary and secondary categories are the single most influential lever on the profile, and the most commonly wrong. Services written out properly rather than left as category labels.
- Citation cleanup and NAP audit
- Every listing across UK directories checked against your real details. Old addresses and dead numbers are found and corrected — inconsistency actively suppresses local rankings.
- Review generation workflow
- A request process your reception or field team can genuinely run, with response templates that do not read like templates. Review volume and recency both matter.
- Local content and location pages
- Pages with genuine local substance — landmarks, transport, the sector mix in that area. Not a find-and-replace on a city name, which is a well-known route to a spam action.
- Local schema and site signals
- LocalBusiness structured data matching your profile exactly, embedded maps, and NAP consistency between the site, the footer and the listing.
- Monthly local reporting
- Map pack positions from a geo-grid rather than from your own browser, plus calls, direction requests and website clicks straight from the profile.
Process
How the work runs
Timeframes are typical rather than guaranteed, and they assume we get account access and content approvals when we ask for them.
- 01Week 1
Audit
Profile, citations, reviews, local content and competitor comparison. Anything actively suppressing you — a suspension risk, a duplicate listing — is flagged immediately.
- 02Week 2–4
Fix the foundations
Categories, NAP, duplicate listings, services and schema. These are corrections rather than growth, and they have to happen before anything else pays off.
- 03Month 2–4
Build signals
Photos, posts, reviews, local links and location content, on a consistent schedule rather than in bursts. Consistency is a ranking signal in itself here.
- 04Ongoing
Report and hold
Geo-grid rank tracking and profile insights monthly. Local rankings drift if the profile goes quiet, so the maintenance is the work, not an afterthought.
Reporting & ownership
What lands on your desk
- Geo-grid map pack rankings showing where you appear from different points across your area.
- Calls, direction requests, website clicks and message volume, straight from Google Business Profile.
- Review count, average rating and response rate, tracked against the competitors you actually lose to.
- Citation status: what is live, what is inconsistent, what has been corrected this month.
- Full manager access to your profile — The Nexclick is never the owner, so you keep control.

Questions
Local SEO questions we get asked
Eight specific to this service area. The general ones — contracts, ownership, timescales — are on the FAQ page.
Why do I rank in one part of town and not another?
Proximity. Google shows different map pack results depending on where the searcher is standing, so checking from your own office gives a flattering and useless picture. We track from a grid of points across your target area, which usually shows a business ranking well within a mile and disappearing beyond three.
How many Google reviews do we actually need?
Enough to be competitive with the businesses currently in the pack, which is a specific number we can look up rather than a general target. Recency matters as much as volume — forty reviews with nothing in the last year performs worse than twenty-five that are still arriving.
Can you get a suspended profile reinstated?
Often, but not always, and it depends entirely on why it was suspended. Address and category issues are usually recoverable with the right evidence. Suspensions for genuine guideline breaches — a virtual office, a keyword-stuffed business name — need the underlying problem fixed first, and we will tell you honestly which situation you are in.
Does the business name field affect rankings?
Yes, considerably, which is why so many competitors stuff keywords into it. It also breaches Google’s guidelines and is straightforward for anyone to report. The Nexclick will not do it. What we will do is report competitors who have, which is a legitimate and often effective route.
We serve customers at their address, not ours. Does that change things?
Yes. You need a service area business profile with the address hidden, and that changes what you can rank for and how proximity is calculated. It is a genuinely different setup from a shopfront and getting it wrong is a common cause of suspensions. Our service area business SEO page covers it in detail.
How is this different from the SEO you do on the website?
Different signals, different results. Local SEO influences the map pack — profile quality, proximity, reviews, citations. Organic SEO influences the blue links underneath. They reinforce each other, and for a single-location business the map pack is usually both cheaper and faster to win.
Do posts on Google Business Profile do anything?
They have a modest direct effect on ranking and a clearer one on click-through and conversion — a profile with a recent post looks like a business that is open and trading. It is a small lever, and worth doing consistently precisely because most competitors do not.
We have twelve branches. Do we need twelve of everything?
Twelve profiles, yes — one per physical location, each verified separately. Twelve near-identical location pages, no. That is the pattern that triggers spam actions. Each page needs genuinely different content, which is real work, and our multi-location SEO service is built around exactly that constraint.
