Bing Places & Apple Business Connect
Small, cheap, and genuinely neglected. Roughly half the phones in the UK open Apple Maps by default and most businesses have never claimed the listing.
Bing Places and Apple Business Connect are the local listings most competitors never claim. The Nexclick sets both up and keeps them consistent with your Google profile, because Apple Maps is the default on every iPhone and Bing increasingly feeds AI assistants.
Is this you?
What usually prompts the call
- You have never heard of Apple Business Connect, let alone claimed a listing.
- Your details on Apple Maps are wrong, or the pin is in the wrong place.
- Bing shows an old address you corrected on Google two years ago.
- You are visible on Google Maps and invisible everywhere else.
What we do
The actual deliverables
Things that appear on an invoice, not adjectives.
- Apple Business Connect claim and setup
- Claiming the listing, correcting the map pin, and completing categories, hours, photos and action links. Apple Maps is the default on iOS, which is a large share of UK mobile users.
- Bing Places setup or import
- Bing allows import from Google Business Profile, which is fast and worth checking afterwards — imports frequently carry across incomplete or outdated fields.
- Pin accuracy verification
- Apple map pins are wrong surprisingly often, particularly on business parks and above-shop premises. A pin fifty metres out sends customers to the wrong door.
- Consistency with the canonical record
- Name, address, phone and hours matched to the same canonical record used for your Google profile, citations and schema.
- Showcases and action links
- Apple Business Connect supports promotional cards and direct actions — booking, ordering, calling. Almost nobody uses them, which is precisely why they are worth using.
- AI assistant considerations
- Bing data feeds Copilot and, indirectly, other assistants; Apple data feeds Siri. Both matter more for AI-mediated local search than their search market share suggests.
- Ongoing consistency checks
- These listings drift like any other. Quarterly verification catches changes before a customer finds them.
Comparison
Where your business details actually reach people
Most local SEO effort goes into one platform. This is the wider picture of where a UK customer might encounter your listing, and how much attention each realistically deserves.
| Platform | Reaches | Effort | Worth claiming? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Google Search, Google Maps, Android default | Ongoing | Essential — everything else is secondary |
| Apple Business Connect | Apple Maps, Siri, iOS default on every iPhone | Setup plus quarterly | Yes — large audience, almost no competition |
| Bing Places | Bing, Copilot, Windows search, DuckDuckGo maps | Setup plus quarterly | Yes — cheap, and feeds AI assistants |
| Facebook Page | Facebook local search, Messenger | Ongoing if used | Yes, if you use Facebook at all |
| TomTom / HERE | In-car satnav systems | One-off | Worth it for anywhere customers drive to |
| Yell | Yell.com, plus downstream directories | One-off | Yes, as a citation source |
| Trade or sector register | Sector-specific search and referrals | One-off | Yes — often the highest-value listing you have |
| Waze | Waze navigation | One-off | Marginal, unless customers drive to you |
| Foursquare | Feeds several downstream apps | One-off | Minor, as a data source |
How it works
Step by step, with timeframes
Timeframes are typical rather than guaranteed, and they assume we get account access and approvals when we ask.
- 01Week 1
Claim both listings
Apple Business Connect claim and verification, Bing Places claim or Google import. Verification is usually faster than Google’s.
- 02Week 1–2
Complete and correct
Every field completed against the canonical record, and the map pin checked and corrected on both.
- 03Week 2–3
Add showcases and actions
Apple showcases and action links configured, since these are almost universally unused by competitors.
- 04Quarterly
Verify quarterly
Details rechecked against the canonical record, because data flows in from third-party sources and drifts.
What you get
Reporting and ownership
- Claimed, verified and completed listings on both platforms, owned by you.
- Map pins verified as correct on Apple and Bing, not assumed.
- Apple showcases and action links configured, which most competitors leave empty.
- Details matched to the same canonical record as your Google profile and schema.
- A quarterly consistency check included.

Timeline
How long this actually takes
Both listings are claimed and completed within two to three weeks including verification, which is generally faster than Google’s. Traffic effects are modest in absolute terms and worth having: Apple Maps carries meaningful volume on iOS, and Bing’s share is small but its data feeds assistants disproportionately. Set expectations proportionately — this is a cheap, quick, low-effort improvement rather than a growth channel. It earns its place because the cost is low and roughly two-thirds of the UK businesses we audit have claimed neither.
Pricing model
Fixed-price project
Small fixed price for both platforms, frequently bundled with citation building or a NAP audit since all three work from the same canonical record.
Questions
Bing Places & Apple Business Connect questions
Does anyone actually use Apple Maps?
Yes — it is the default on every iPhone, and a large share of UK mobile users never change it. Tapping an address in Messages, Mail or Safari on iOS opens Apple Maps rather than Google. If your details there are wrong or missing, that is a real and invisible loss.
Is Bing worth bothering with given its market share?
For search volume alone, marginally. What has changed is that Bing’s index feeds Microsoft Copilot and it is the default on Windows and Edge. It is a small effort, it is free, and its influence on AI-mediated answers exceeds its search share.
Can we import our Google listing into Bing?
Yes, and it is the fastest route. Check the result afterwards — imports frequently carry over incomplete categories, missing photos and stale hours. The import saves the typing, not the reviewing.
What are Apple showcases?
Promotional cards that appear on your Apple Maps listing — offers, events, announcements. They are the Apple equivalent of Google Posts, they take minutes to set up, and almost no UK small business uses them, which makes them unusually cheap visibility.
Our Apple Maps pin is in the wrong place. Can that be fixed?
Yes, through Apple Business Connect once you have claimed the listing. Misplaced pins are common on business parks, industrial estates and above-shop premises. A pin fifty metres out sends customers to a neighbour’s door, and it is invisible to you unless someone tells you.
Do these listings affect Google rankings?
Only indirectly, as citations contributing to overall consistency. Their value is direct reach on those platforms rather than influence on Google. Anyone selling them as a Google ranking lever is stretching it — claim them because customers use them.
