Google Business Profile Verification
Video verification became the default and the failure rate went up. Most failures are eligibility problems wearing the costume of a recording problem.
Verification is how Google confirms a business is real before the profile appears in Maps. The Nexclick prepares the video evidence, manages postcard and phone routes, and where attempts keep failing, identifies which eligibility rule is actually blocking it rather than resubmitting the same recording.
Is this you?
What usually prompts the call
- You have submitted a verification video twice and been rejected without a reason.
- The postcard never arrived, and requesting another has not helped.
- You are asked to verify a profile that has been live for years and cannot work out why.
- You work from home or a coworking space and verification keeps stalling.
What we do
The actual deliverables
Things that appear on an invoice, not adjectives.
- Eligibility check before recording anything
- Whether the address, category and business model actually meet Google’s criteria. Recording a perfect video for an ineligible address wastes a week and an attempt.
- Video preparation and shot planning
- A planned single continuous recording covering exterior signage, surrounding area, interior, equipment or stock, and proof of management access. Planned rather than improvised.
- Evidence pack assembly
- Utility bills, business rates, insurance, lease and registration documents in the exact name and address on the profile. Mismatches here are a common silent cause of rejection.
- Route selection
- Video, postcard, phone, email or search console verification — availability varies by category and history, and the fastest available route is not always the one offered first.
- Failure diagnosis
- After repeated rejections, working out which criterion is failing. Resubmitting the same evidence a third time does not work and can slow the case.
- Reconfiguration where needed
- Sometimes the answer is a service area business with the address hidden rather than a visible listing. A live profile in a weaker configuration beats an unverifiable one.
- Documentation retained
- The evidence pack kept, because re-verification can be triggered years later by an edit and having it ready turns a week into an afternoon.
Checklist
What the verification video must actually show
Video verification must be a single unbroken recording. Rejections are frequently caused by omitting one of these rather than by anything wrong with the business. Plan the walk before you press record.
- 01Start outside, showing the street and surrounding area so the location is identifiable.
- 02Show permanent exterior signage with the business name clearly legible.
- 03Show the building number or unit identifier.
- 04Walk from outside to inside without stopping the recording.
- 05Show the interior as a customer would see it.
- 06Show equipment, stock or tools specific to your trade.
- 07Show branded materials — uniforms, vehicles, letterhead, invoices.
- 08Show evidence of management access: unlocking a door, using a till, opening a back office.
- 09Show a computer or system logged into your own business software.
- 10Keep it continuous — no cuts, no pauses, no edits of any kind.
- 11Record in landscape, in daylight or good lighting, holding the camera steady.
- 12Keep it between one and five minutes; longer is not better.
- 13Do not use a pre-recorded showreel or marketing footage.
- 14Make sure everything shown matches the name and address on the profile exactly.
How it works
Step by step, with timeframes
Timeframes are typical rather than guaranteed, and they assume we get account access and approvals when we ask.
- 01Day 1–2
Assess eligibility
Address type, category, signage and staffing checked against the criteria before anything is submitted.
- 02Day 3–7
Prepare
Video planned and recorded, or the postcard route set up, with the documentary evidence assembled alongside.
- 03Week 2
Submit
One clear submission. Google responds in anywhere from a few days to several weeks and there is no expedite route.
- 04Week 3–6
Diagnose and resubmit
If rejected, establish which criterion failed and address it before resubmitting. Repeat identical attempts do not succeed.
What you get
Reporting and ownership
- An eligibility assessment before any attempt is made, including when the honest answer is that it will fail.
- A shot list and script for the verification video, so it is recorded once.
- The documentary evidence pack assembled and retained for future re-verification.
- A written diagnosis of any rejection, rather than a resubmission of the same material.
- A note of which edits are likely to trigger re-verification later, so they can be made carefully.

Timeline
How long this actually takes
Preparation takes under a week. Google’s response ranges from same-day to several weeks, and postcard verification can take a fortnight or fail to arrive at all. Where the first attempt fails, allow another two to four weeks for diagnosis and resubmission. The honest position: Google controls this timeline entirely and nobody can accelerate it. Where an address genuinely does not meet the criteria — a mailbox, a virtual office, a co-located desk with no signage — no quality of video will pass it, and continuing to try is expensive. In those cases reconfiguring as a service area business is the route that actually works.
Pricing model
Fixed-price project
Fixed fee covering eligibility assessment, preparation and submission. Where a case needs repeated diagnosis and resubmission, that is quoted separately once the cause is known.
Questions
Google Business Profile Verification questions
Why did our verification video get rejected?
Most commonly because it did not show permanent signage, did not demonstrate management access, or was cut rather than continuous. Google does not usually tell you which. Where a business fails repeatedly despite a good recording, the cause is almost always eligibility rather than evidence.
Can we verify a home-based business?
Yes, as a service area business with the address hidden. The video still needs to show your working setup, equipment and evidence you operate the business from there. What you cannot do is verify a residential address as a visible customer-facing location.
Our postcard never arrived. What now?
You can request another, though repeated requests rarely succeed where the first failed. Video verification is usually available as an alternative and is faster. If neither route works, the underlying issue is generally address eligibility rather than the postal service.
Why are we being asked to verify a profile that has worked for years?
Re-verification is triggered by edits — address, name, category — and by periodic automated review. It is not a penalty. It becomes a problem when the business has changed in a way the original verification no longer covers, and that is worth checking before submitting.
Can someone else verify on our behalf?
The recording must be made at your premises by someone with genuine access, so it is not something an agency can do remotely. What we do is plan the shot list, script the walk, assemble the evidence and review the footage before you submit it.
Does verification affect our rankings?
Only in the sense that an unverified profile does not appear at all. Verification is a gate rather than a ranking signal. What matters afterwards is category accuracy, completeness, reviews and prominence — verification simply gets you into the competition.
